III. osnovna šola Celje joined the project The Future of Water under the auspices of the non-governmental organization Zavod novih idej, which consists of three teachers involved in the various European projects.

The goal of the NGO is to involve partner organizations in our social activities related to the area of education, environmental problems, social responsibility and also make sure they and their potential partners or cooperating organization ensure our joint plans and goals are met. As the NGO does not have its own students but nevertheless work with them directly in our environment they will be our primary focus group and represent the beneficiaries of our actions. We will involve them directly through our work in schools where we are employed as well as indirectly via out partner organizations. We would like to focus our work in areas of culture, science, active citizenship, ICT and environmental issues.

Our main area of work will be in the area of ecology, as we will implement best practices in our project and work. Our leader has in addition started a new sustainability project which involves schools. The projects aim is to involve schools, local communities, government and private sector in providing sustainable educational buildings, sustainable working and learning environments and invite both the private sector as well as schools’ students and their parents in actively seeking possibilities for involving oneself in as many sustainability activities as possible. The project’s name is Brezogljicne šole (Carbon free schools) and is currently in the pilot stage since September 1st 2020.
