Scoala Gimnaziala “Ioan Bădescu” Popesti Leordeni is situated in Popesti Leordeni town, not far from Bucharest. It has 705 students: 50 pre-primary pupils (4-5 years old), 405 primary students (6-10 years old) and 250 secondary students (11-15 years old). Our school develops students and parents training activities and projects for the development of their key competences in relation to new situations in which students must use and apply their skills, static or dynamic images belonging to different fields: environment, geography , science and technology. Our students develop the skills to understand the world and to relate critically to it, to know themselves and to respect each other’s identity and values.
In the previous year, our students and teachers received ecological literacy training from the Environment Association. Last year, we received water literacy training from the same association. Students performed “Water Theater” and “Water Dance” performances for the parents on World Water Day. At school, we engage in interactive discussions to help children understand the importance of water in their lives. We have succeeded in integrating many vital issues such as harvesting, water use, water recycling, and preserving water with simple processes into the curriculum.
