It estimates that by 2025, more than 700 million people may be at risk of forced migration due to water shortages. “Water refugees” constitute a potential associated with future water scarcity. Experts predict that if no action is taken, sea and ocean creatures will decrease by 80 percent by 2100. However, according to the European 2030 Strategy report, it was emphasized that the balance of power in the world will shift towards Asia due to technological developments. This means that we urgently need to encourage the children of today, the adults of tomorrow, to conserve water for the future of the planet, raise sustainable water awareness and change daily living habits.
In light of the fact, 6 organizations (from Finland, Norh Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey) joined forces in bringing together the teachers and students from different European schools under the banner of “The Future of Water” Erasmus+ project.
Our aim is to to improve the water literacy of students between the ages of 10-16, to give them the awareness of lifelong sustainable consumption habits and responsible world citizenship.
It is our mission to get the students to understand the negative effects of climate change and rapid population growth on global water society, gain sustainable consumption habits, and become water literate also in terms of encouraging others to leave a lesser footprint on our environment.
